Africa’s 4th Industrial Renaissance & its Digital Space

The need to educate and develop Africa’s workforce in digital skills is growing daily. As Africa becomes more driven by services and less dependent on commodities, the continent must foster digital skills as part of transitioning from low-skill, low-pay jobs to high-skill and high-paying jobs. Industries are constantly being disrupted by the high-speed transformation fueled by a growing digital economy. Companies are now starting to invest in creating a digital presence that will give them access to customers who are actively participating on the internet With more and more people receiving information through their cellular phones via the internet. The best way for governments and businesses to further disseminate information is by developing the necessary digital infrastructure to connect with society. The suggestion here is to introduce programs that will stimulate learning about the digital space and further encourage participation in the digital economy. For this to be effective, government and businesses must take responsibility.
